KOTCHA'S STORY

Or the story of how the knowledge born in Kaptagat reached runners everywhere — and how we're redefining running as a team sport.

We're on a mission to make society physically, mentally, and socially healthier through the power of running.

We're done with training that feels lonely, uncertain or trapped in 12-weeks fixed plans. It's time to bring back what running is really about: joy, connection and growth.

The ENCOUNTER

At the heart of Kotcha are three builders obsessed with apps and in love with running. Ben, a product expert and multi-marathoner frustrated with the apps available; Dim, an experienced marketer who's seen how running can change lives; and Mac, an innovative builder and believer in tech for good.

The TREES

Kaptagat, Kenya. We met Eliud Kipchoge, his coach Patrick Sang, and the team at their training camp. What connected us instantly was a shared vision of what running truly means. Growth, joy and belonging. That day, we found our final co-founder. To seal it, we planted together trees in the camp.

The CRAFT

We started building the product. Right after the London Marathon, we met again with Eliud Kipchoge and Patrick Sang to review our first designs and ideas.

The STARTING LINE

We launched in New York for Eliud's first NYC Marathon, putting his method in the hands of tens of thousands of runners from day one.

The MOUNTAINS

Mallorca, Spain. We spent time working closely with Kilian Jornet, going back and forth to translate his trail running methods into the app. His approach to endurance, terrain reading and mountain strategy is now built into every trail plan Kotcha generates.

Partnership

Co-built with Eliud Kipchoge & Kilian Jornet

At Kotcha, we have an obsession: the science and craft behind elite running. How a season is structured, how effort is rationed across months so the body adapts instead of breaking, how strength work and recovery quietly do as much as the hard sessions, how discipline compounds, day after day, into performance. These are the decisions that separate the best in the world from everyone chasing them. That's why Kilian Jornet and Eliud Kipchoge are athlete-founders. The greatest mountain runner and the greatest marathoner of all time sat down to build the product with us, opening up the real logic behind their training: why a given week looks the way it does, when to push and when to hold back, how a plan bends to the runner instead of the other way around. We take that logic, distill it and translate it into a plan that adapts to you: your level, your goal, your life.

RUNNING IS A TEAM SPORT

The day you bought your first shoes. The day you put them on. The day you went out for the first time. The day anything was possible. The day you grew wings. The day you felt alone and free and free to be alone. The day you had your first side stitch. The day after that, the uncertainty. The day you installed one app, and then another, The day you felt your wings fail. Running is easy. Until the day. Until the day you need support, Because you don't run so fast anymore, Because you feel too lonely. Because freedom is getting in the way, Because aches and pains are becoming excuses. That day, you need someone to support you, to train you, to push you to your limits. A friend. A Group. A team. And that's exactly what Kotcha is. To stay free, you need community. To feel like you're flying when you run, you need company. Because you can run against yourself, and run with others. Because we want you never to run alone again. Because running is a team sport.
